Pay what you want
Friday 28th February 2025
The fourth instalment of our new concept ‘Pay What You Want’ evening at our HQ in Cowes, and it was a resounding success! Our cosy space was filled with the buzz of excitement as guests enjoyed a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, where they could savour a diverse menu of globally inspired dishes. This special event was designed to make great food accessible to everyone, allowing diners to decide the value of their experience.
Alex crafted an exceptional menu that took taste buds on a culinary journey around the world. Guests started with light bites like Teriyaki Chicken Toast, perfectly crispy Seaweed and Tapioca Crisps, and a creamy Miso Dip. These vibrant starters set the tone for an adventurous evening of bold and comforting flavours.
One of the standout dishes was our Korean Isle of Wight Beef Croquette (some may remember this from our takeaway days!), paired with a zesty Korean glaze, pickled cucumber, and our signature Eat Street Kimchi Ketchup. This dish perfectly balanced the rich, savoury notes of the croquette with the tangy, fresh flavours of the garnish.
The Gyoza Taco, featuring Wild Oak Farm Isle of Wight Beef Birria, avocado and lime slaw, and a sprinkle of feta, brought a fusion of Asian and Mexican influences that delighted our guests. Equally impressive was the Sri Lankan Dal, served with coconut and chilli chutney and a crispy kale pakoda, which offered a vibrant and aromatic vegetarian option.
For those craving a heartier plate, our Ethiopian Isle of Wight Mutton Shoulder (From Kingston Smallholding) with berebere rice and braised greens delivered layers of warm, spiced flavours that were both comforting and invigorating.
We finished the evening with an Eat Street take on a cheese course – The Cannoli of Whipped Goat’s Cheese, enhanced by roasted za’atar and pomegranate molasses, offered a delightful savoury-sweet bite. Our Roasted Peanut Butter Mousse with a sesame tuille and creamy peanut ice cream provided a rich and indulgent end to the meal.
And, as with all Eat Street events, a little added extra of white chocolate & lavender and white chocolate and marmite fudge finished the evening.
We’re loving hosting the Pay What You Want events as they allow us bring some really different dishes to the Island whilst also allowing us to connect more deeply with our community. It’s always inspiring to see how much people value our efforts and share their experiences openly. We’re so grateful to everyone who attended and made the evening special.
Stay tuned for more events like this—whether it’s pop-up dining, themed evenings, or bespoke catering, Eat Street IOW is always finding new ways to bring people together over great food!
